Trying to add some excitement to your sight word study time? Try these puzzles! Students read the words and practice their problem solving skills by placing the pieces in the correct location to create the picture shown. Choose your favorite recording sheet and laminate for each student. Have them record with erasable markers the multiple ways one can use to model addition. Requiring multiple ways to solve problems will increase their flexibility in thinking and deepen their understanding of addition of larger numbers! ***The first grade goal doesn't mention 2-digit by 2-digit addition, but those are the examples I provide. Most of these pages are copied onto card stock and placed in the center of my students' homework folders. My school system uses SRA Imagine It! for reading, so the grade level listed on the sight word pages corresponds to the high frequency words used in that program's grade level lessons.
