Main Idea & Supporting Details

This is a simple note taking sheet and test that I used during the time I taught my students about main idea and supporting details. We read simple stories to begin illustrating the main idea, then increased in difficulty as we learned. The main idea "table" was the BEST thing! My kids really connected the table top being the "main" and big idea in a story, just like a real table. Unit Test for "The Best Halloween Ever"

Teaching style

I love to think outside the box. If I can take a textbook idea and switch it up and put my own spin on it, I know I can better fit my own students in my classroom. I love seeing kids learn something new and exciting. Anything crafty, hands-on, experiments, or movement lessons are my favorite. Being creative and having fun also has its place!
