Your students will love practicing calculations of subatomic particles with this pre-made bingo game. The teacher draws a card with the name of an element and calls its name. Student then use a periodic table to find its atomic number, mass number, protons, neutrons, and electrons. When students find a corresponding number, they place a token. File includes 30 different bingo boards with numbers already filled in, a sheet of element names that can be cut out for calling bingo, and a call she

In this engaging review activity, students practice using anatomical directional terms and the names of body regions. First, a student draws shapes on a body outline and writes directions to a partner. Then the image is covered and the partner follows the directions. This activity reinforces basic anatomy vocabulary such as abdominal, cranial, pelvic, spinal, thoracic, superior, inferior, anterior, posterior, medial, lateral, proximal, distal, etc. It also strengthens writing skills within t

This activity is a great review for students during an introductory chemistry or physical science unit. Students rotate between 6 stations: Measurement, Significant Figures, Metric System, Laboratory Equipment, Precision and Accuracy, and Scientific Method. Laminate the sheets or place them in clear sleeves, and students can write responses directly on the stations using dry erase marker. I give students a slip of paper with 6 lines for me to sign as they complete each station. Students can

In this project, students create a Power Point or Prezi to present a health related career to the class. Alone or in pairs, students research the job duties and salary of a health career. They also research 2 schools that offer training in the field and learn the GPA and test score requirements for entrance into the programs. After the presentations, I have my students reflect on what they learned and write about the career that most interested them. The file includes a 1 page project descri

Students work with a partner to generate a PowerPoint or Prezi presentation to educate their peers about a common sexually transmitted disease. The first page of the file contains a project description that can be printed as-is or modified to suit your class. Pages 2 and 3 include an additive grading rubric. All students begin with an 80% and gain or lose points according to where they fall within the scoring criteria. The rubric can be modified to suit your needs.

This is a full lesson that encourages students to use key literacy skills to understand, organize, and summarize difficult text. Students begin by reading a section from their biology book and placing the words and phrases into the graphic organizer. This stage works best with partners so students have someone to compare ideas with. Once the first part is completed, students work cooperatively to construct a summary paragraph. Students must use their organizer to write a paragraph explaining

This set of stations is designed to accompany Prentice Hall's Biology, chapter 5. Topics covered include monomers and polymers, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and enzymes. *This updated version replaces the Quia activity with a matching exercise that has students match and play memory with diagrams of organic molecules. The Quia activity is still active for those who prefer it. An answer key was also added. These 6 stations focus heavily on interpreting diagrams and chemical structures.
