Here is a study guide and unit assessment I made to go along with the first book, Shapes and Designs, for the Connected Math Program 3. I teach special education, so I did not include all the concepts from each of the investigations, however I did include majority of them. You can change the questions to suit your population; change some of the multiple choice into open ended or short answer questions. Enjoy! Easier cartesian for 6th-8th graders who need practice graphing. I use with my 7th grade special education class, and other teachers use with their inclusion and intervention classes. Only goes 0-5 in each direction, so hits all 4 quadrants while also being easier on the eyes.

There are three small charts: The first chart shows different polynomials. At the bottom, the words monomials, binomials, trinomials, and polynomials will be cut out and the students can use their inferencing skills (“bi” meaning two) to figure out where each word should be glued. The second chart describes “Not Polynomials” and the expressions have to be glued with the correct description. The third chart is cut and paste where students identify the degree in each polynomials given.

This is a jeopardy-ish game, which you can also search to find the study guide and assessment that goes along with it. It does not follow the rules of jeopardy, where the answer must be in question form, etc. but it does allow the students to pick their question based on category and points. A flip chart that incorporates visual pictures along with the steps of long division. An excellent reminder for students; they can pull out their flip chart at any time to assist them with the next step. This is especially great for special education students where hands-on and visuals become a different approach to teaching the same concept. Graph is only 0-10 in all directions therefore making it a little more manageable and easier on the eye. I use for my Special Education 7th grade class, and other teachers use it for their intervention or inclusion classes. It spells "USA". Includes coordinate points, blank graph, and answer key.

This is a flip chart that shows a very old lady on the front. I tell my students a story about "my" Aunt, how she was so old, walked around with a cane and one day while we were out for dinner she let out a big fart. I then emphasize how we had to tell the customers, "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally," and then we had to tell the owners, "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally," and on and on. This file includes 1 algebra midterm which has 40 questions and 5 extra credit problems. There are two finals, an “A” and “B” that include 40 questions and 8 extra credit question. These two finals look almost identical, except there are some numbers and problems changed on “Final A” to make it a little easier for those students that need those modifications. It is a great way to differentiate without the students even noticing! You can use problems from any and all of these to make your own

This is a three part test, therefore only one page has to be given at a time. It is spaced and boxed to look visually appealing and "easier". It includes all major concepts covered in the Accentuate the Negative book. Time obviously varies based on your student and their IEP requirements.

This is a review sheet which can also be used as a test/quiz. It includes simplifying exponents through multiple choice questions. There are two elaborate problems that involve combining like-terms, six problems that require multiplying and dividing polynomials and a few problems involving scientific notation. Each vocabulary word is large enough to see from anywhere in the room with small descriptions/examples of what the vocab word is. I find it helpful for students to refer to when learning the new material and using the vocab. You need to cut some and piece them together-> Pg. 2, the "ive" goes with the "Distribut" and the fractions on pg 2 go with "Rational Numbers".

FOIL method is a popular mnemonic device used to help students multiply binomials. I have provided cut-outs to create a flip chart to assist students with the FOIL process. It guides them through the steps while also giving them an example. It is an excellent visual for all students. I also use this as an accommodation for my special education students during certain tests and quizzes. I have included the way I set this flip-chart up so you can see how to put it together.

This is a review (self check). I use it as an "around the world" game. I copy the multiplication cards on colored paper and hang them around room. Students walk around the room solving the problems and recording the letter that corresponds with the number on their paper. Once they have answered all of the cards, they will return to their seats and write the letters in order to get the answer to the joke. Then it goes into visuals, using animals. Following that, there is an example (where it will walk through, step by step, with each click of the mouse. The example includes the "box method" and next to it the "arrow method". There are additional examples to practice together, and then students can complete the class work in

Includes practice problems where you need to set up the equation when given words and solve for the missing variable. Also has problems involving percentages where the percent may or may not be the variable missing. There are some proportions and ratios involving variables and word problems. Lastly there are word problems that incorporate missing variables in distance and interest formulas.
