Data Analysis Task Cards
This is a set of 15 task cards that include all released STAAR questions from 2013-2016 for Reporting Category 4 (TEKS 8.5C&D and 8.11A&B).
Focus is on data analysis using trend lines and Mean Absolute Deviation:
1) Linear Vs. Non-Linear
2) Trend lines and Predictions from them
3) MAD
It set includes an answer document for the students to record their work and Key for the teacher. I also included a KEY task card if you prefer your students to self assess.

Experience

Teaching style
Project Based Learning is a big part of my class. I think it is crucial for students to know where they will use math in the real world and the projects I design give them that opportunity. Their main project for the year is their Interactive Notebook. They create their own textbook each year giving them the opportunity to take ownership in their leaning and giving me the opportunity to assess that learning along the way!
Awards & shining teacher moments
Teaching is often its own reward! But, I have been recognized by The Texas State Senate for "Exemplary Service and Significant Contributions to Math Teaching and Learning in Texas Schools."
Fancy right? AND by my local radio station...my students nominated me for teacher of the month! It was really very sweet.
My own education history
I received my Bachelors from Texas A&M-Commerce with a double major in Math and Physics and a minor in Chemistry. After working in the "real-world", I returned to Texas A&M-Texarkana to pursue my Masters in Education.
