Differentiation equals success for all. Not every student learns at the same rate and has the same abilities. Learning can occur at many different levels, and it is vital that all students grow as critical thinkers, problem solvers, and learners. I offer different levels of tasks and assessments to ensure success for all students and make myself available to help in any way possible. I will continue to research and create new and better ways of allowing my students to reach their full potential and am always seeking innovative ways to help students succeed in my classroom. Not only do I want them to be successful, but I want them to enjoy learning along the way.
I model the importance of education by constantly furthering my education as well. I am proud to have earned a marketing degree, an early childhood education degree, a middle grades education degree, a master’s degree in early childhood education, a specialist degree in curriculum and instruction, and my gifted endorsement.

Clue Words
This is a document that will allow the students to know exactly which clue words are commonly used in algebra and which operation matches those clue words. It is very easy to understand this chart, and it is extremely helpful when teaching translating verbal phrases into algebraic expressions. This is also helpful in lower grades when teaching translating a word problem into a math sentence in order to solve the word problem.

Coordinate Plane Graphic Organizer
This is a graphic organizer that I made for my students' interactive notebook. The students label each part of the coordinate plane and have visual clues to help them. This is a great review before moving on to graphing points, graphing lines, transformations on the coordinate plane, etc.

The Murder of Al Gebra: an equation murder mystery
This is a murder mystery that groups must solve using clues that they earn by solving equations. Passing Notes - an Integer Operations Activity
This is a task I created for my students to practice integer operations. I uploaded it as a word document so that you may change it to meet your needs. In Part One: The students have to translate a note that was passed in class into grammatically correct language and then assign values to the words based on the information in the task. Math Trail Game - Order of Operations
This is a game I created that allows students the opportunity to practice solving problems in groups that involve integers following the order of operations. Included are problem cards, matching answer cards, student sheet, answer key, and a game board. I have included directions for ways to use this same activity with the math trail game, a matching game, a board game, and stations. My students love playing these reinforcing games!

Rational Numbers Sums and Differences
This is an activity where students add and subtract rational numbers (positive and negative fractions). They must also work backwards from the sums and differences to find the missing rational number in the puzzle. This is a great way to force rich discussions in groups about how to add and subtract positive and negative fractions!

I taught in elementary and middle schools for 30 years. The last seven years I was instructional lead teacher. More recently, I have gotten certified as a behavior therapist working with autistic children.
