Print and place in sheet protectors for students to use daily with dry erase markers. This is a great tool to help students compare place values and learn decimals to the hundredths place.
This is real data about the size of zoos across the globe. I used this as a warm up at the beginning of class to generate a discussion among students about the most appropriate graph to represent the data.
This set includes 2 lesson plans, a discovery activity, a divisibility rules cheat sheet, task cards and a note catcher for a game of quiz-quiz trade. In the lesson plan, students will investigate which numbers are divisible by 2,3 and 6. They will then look for patterns. Students continue to make more discoveries along the way until the rules for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 are discussed. Students will get practice with the task cards as they use the protocol "quiz-quiz trade" to quiz classmate
I love using gallery walks as a way to introduce a topic and get students out of their seats and moving! All you have to do is hang the stations along the wall in your classroom. In a gallery walk, students walk to each of the 10 stations and write down notes as they go. In this gallery walk, students will make inferences about the connections between an inequality statement and its graph on the number line. They will first make observations on their own and then have a discussion with classmat
Adding and subtracting integers is one of the most challenging, but fundamental topics students learn during 7th grade math. As I have spent more time teaching this standard, I noticed that students did not have a firm grasp of number lines and that was contributing to misconceptions and errors when adding and subtracting negative numbers. This lesson is designed for students to explore the creation and properties of horizontal and vertical number lines to take ownership and use their knowledge
I use this test as a formative assessment for my 7th grade students before our review of fractions. I have found that many students need to brush up on fractions in order to comfortably use them in classroom content. I do not allow my students to use a calculator
Print and place in sheet protectors for students to use daily with dry erase markers. This is a great tool to help students compare place values and learn decimals to the thousandths place.
Place value chart goes from Millions to Thousandths.
I use this lesson on the very first day of our integer unit. Students are posed with the question of noticing patterns when two numbers are added together. Most students immediately say that the sum becomes greater - but this lesson allows students to explore a little deeper through conversations with classmates and making math arguments of their own. Included you will find a lesson plan, a do now to start the class period and student materials. This lesson is accessible for all students and le
This worksheet and protocol allow for students to have a stronger understanding of parts of a circle and circumference of circles. There is also a section at the end for students to draw circles using a compass. If compasses are not available, they can use a ruler. I recommend that students engage in the questions by doing the teammates consult protocol: Students sit facing each other in groups of 3-4. A cup is put in the center of each team’s table. Students begin by placing their pencils/pe
This is a good worksheet to open class or provide extra practice for 2s, 3s, 4s and 5s multiplication tables.

It is always my goal to get students out of their seats during the class period. I love to allow my students to discover new concepts and then follow up the investigation with a mini-lesson. I am a teacher at an EL Learning school and I am always looking for real world applications of math to apply to our units of study.
