Each card involves students either identifying a digit in a place value, naming place value, determining the value of a digit, and heavy emphasis has been placed on converting numbers into standard, expanded, or word form. Randomly place cards around classroom and allow student to walk around answering each question. At the end students can check their answers with the provided answer key. This is a perfect activity to use for a math center in your classroom. This product consist of problems involving regrouping, comparing numbers, ordering, addition, subtraction, and word problems. This can be incorporated with the game Kerplunk for a group of three or more. Simply shuffle the cards, place them upside down so the answers cannot be seen, and allow students to draw from the top of the deck. Three different levels: (1) Three digit addition with regrouping in one place value, (2) Four digit addition with regrouping in one or more place values, and (3) Various multi-digit addition with regrouping in one or more place value. Can be used with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades or higher if needed for a remediation task.

Use this as a tool with rounding. Further expands on the "old trick" of "if it's 4 or less, let it rest. If it's 5 or more let it rise." Instead each place value (tens up to ten thousands) are broken down based upon the entire amount that may appear behind the number.

A fun activity for student's to practice regrouping/exchanging in place value. This activity is perfect for helping students understand how the power of ten works in place value as they must be able to understand how and when place value amounts can be exchanged for equivalent amounts of the same value.
