This set of guided notes is a fun way to teach your students the musical applications of transformations of sinusoidal functions. First, your students will locate an app on GeoGebra to both see and hear the difference in the note as its frequency (and thus period) and amplitude change. This lab teaches students the basics of free body diagrams, modeling free fall with drag forces from parachutes, and finding an optimal solution to an engineering problem. Guided notes with an answer key are provided to give students a mathematical background on the project before attempting to drop an egg with a parachute! The object of the lab is for students to find the optimal shape of a parachute.

This activity is a great review of all things radians, from arc length, to finding exact values of trig functions, to properties of cofunctions! Each exercise is assigned a color, and when the students find an answer, they will use that color to color in every section of their mandala that is labeled with that answer. Miss D's fun tip: hang up all of the mandalas around the classroom when the students finish!

This product contains an assessment of students' abilities to recall vocabulary related to trigonometry, graph sinusoidal functions, describe transformations of sinusoidal functions, identify the period, amplitude, phase shift, and vertical shift of a transformed sinusoidal function, and find the central angle of a circle given its radius and arc length.

During this project, students will create their own music video on transformations of sinusoidal functions. This is an engaging activity that will help the students remember the properties of transformations through repetition and song.

This lesson teaches students how to apply information about normal distributions, means, standard deviations, and z-scores from real life data about height. The focus of this lesson is conceptual understanding; students will not be computing any standard deviations. However, they will use a given mean, standard deviation, and normal distribution to compute z-scores and percentiles for their own height, their classmates' heights, and celebrities' heights.

This is a project where students create their own number system! I used this with my 8th grade class after I taught them about numbers in different bases and other number systems, such as the Mayan and Roman number systems. Students create their own slide show to present with the class and are given specific directions on what to include in the slideshow. A rubric for grading is included.
