This is a great project to use toward the end of the school year to review and apply several of the concepts taught in 8th grade math. This project gives students different pieces of information about cake prices at three bakeries, and they need to determine which bakery and combination of cakes would be best to suit Millie’s needs. Topics covered: multi-step equations, systems of equations, unit price, real life rounding, and volume of cylinders and prisms.

Questions ask students to determine the x and y intercepts of functions given an equation or a graph, and to graph lines from equations in standard form. This download includes 12 question and answer pages, a student work page, and an answer key. The questions and answers can be printed and posted around the classroom or in a hallway. Students will walk around and match each question to an answer, while showing their work on their work page.

This review game is a team activity, but encourages each student and each team to participate in solving all of the problems (unlike traditional Jeopardy games, etc). The included rules allow chances for each team to set the pace for their own questions, so slower students will still have time to finish their questions, but faster students won’t have to wait for every question. Each team can earn points for every question, so there is no down time while students are waiting for their turn. Each

After every test, I require students to fix all of their mistakes (regardless of how well they did). This form requires students to not only find a new answer, but to identify where they went wrong, so they hopefully won't make similar mistakes in the future. I allow students to get help and use any resources they can for these corrections, and they count as a quiz grade. This also helps students improve their grade a bit if they didn't do well on the original assessment. This works very well
