This unit serves to provide students with an introduction to how people impact nature. Environmental preservation is a broad topic, so this short unit focuses on the preservation of trees. Most students have been exposed to trees. They might be able to name different types of trees, they may have experiences climbing or playing around trees, and, depending on where the students live, they may have seen trees in varying stages of life. The unit opens with two activities which differentiate betwee
