Measuring Waves Worksheet

This worksheet guides students to measure wavelength, amplitude and frequency of transverse waves. The first page of the student handout defines those wave properties and shows example measurements. The second and third pages require students to find the measurements for 8 waves. An answer key is included. Because the waves are on a grid, students do not need to use a ruler to make measurements. This sheet would be great for independent practice or homework after a lesson on the properties

Sound and Waves Reading Passage with Comprehension Questions

This is a very straight-forward reading passage about waves, and specifically sound waves. It would be a great resource to use with close reading or active reading strategies. It has 15 questions that follow, and all answers can be found directly in the text. I created this resource for an extra review for my 6th grade students before a test. They completed the questions individually and then I put them in groups to discuss the answers, with one "leader" of each group having the answer key f

Cycles of Matter Sort

This is a simple review of the water, carbon, and nitrogen cycles. It could be completed in a group or independently. Students simply cut apart the nine facts/characteristics and then glue them onto the chart under the correct cycle. It could also be an addition to interactive notebooks. This is a 2-page pdf file. The first page should be printed to give to students. The second page is an answer key. If you use this resource and enjoy it, please leave positive feedback! Thanks so much for

Lesson Planning Template on Google Sheets

Are you looking for a lesson plan template that is more specific than the planner books that are found in the teacher stores? Maybe you're like me and have certain elements that must be shown on the lesson plan when administrators visit. For my school, it's a clear learning goal, assessment of the learning goal, aligned activities, and correlation to the state standard. After searching for templates online, I decided to create my own. I put it into a Google Sheet so that I can share it with

Monthly Budget Template

Are you looking for a way to track where all of your money is going? I created this template with a household budget in mind but it could also be used for school/departmental/classroom budgets. Another use of this spreadsheet would be for teaching budgeting skills to students of any age. This template is a Google Sheet so can be easily accessed on multiple devices. At the store and not sure if you can really afford that new pair of shoes? Pull up your budget from your phone and see. Because yo

Mirrors and Lenses Sorting Activity

This is a simple activity which students can do independently or in groups to review the types of mirrors and lenses. They should cut apart the rectangles on the first page and then reassemble them onto a blank paper to match the type of mirror/lens to its picture, description of how it affects light, and example of where it is found. There are six categories: flat mirror, convex mirror, concave mirror, flat lens, convex lens, and concave lens. This would be a good activity to review these op

Ratios, Rates and Unit Rates Interactive Notebook Foldable

This is a graphic organizer for students to add to their math journals to help them compare ratios, rates and unit rates. They will have a definition, examples of how they are written, and example problems using each. You may wish to give students the completed version and simply have them fold, cut and stick it into their notebook. Or, use the fill-in-the-notes version to have them fill in key words and complete the problems as you project and reveal the completed version. This is a 4-page

Google Sheet for Tracking Student Behavior Points

Do you use some type of classroom economy? Or maybe you want to start one but the thought of either tracking points or printing and cutting "bucks" is making you hesitant? I started using the free online site, Class Dojo, a couple of years ago but could never decide what to do with the points. I wanted students to be able to trade them in for prizes, but if they didn't spend all of the points at once it became difficult. I've seen great ideas for tracking points in elementary classrooms, bu
