I created this Excel Workbook because I was having a hard time keeping track of specific student behavior totals. For example: how many times Johnny has not turned in his homework or failed a test. All I have to do is enter the date of the infraction in the correct cell and it keeps track of the totals for me. Whenever a parent comes in, or we have a student meeting, all I need to do is print the selected cells for the student and it gives me a comprehensive list of the problems this studen

My current best selling item is my bell work. I had been using the same format of bell work for the last 5 years. The routine of bell ringer/journal question every single day was getting a little too monotonous for me. I decided that this year I wanted to try something new! Students will learn the difference between static and dynamic characters in this PowerPoint that utilizes classic Shel Silverstein poems. Students are asked to read 5 Shel SilverStein poems (and one story summary) and determine if the main character is static or dynamic and why. I then ask students to write their own story containing a clear static and dynamic character. I have used this PowerPoint for nine years and every year my kids love it more and more.

Prezi is similar to a PowerPoint in that they are both presentation tools, but that is where their similarities end. Prezi Presentations are created on a "canvas" rather than on "slides". This helps to encourage focusing on combining text, pictures and video clips. Items on the canvas can be dragged, tilted, and zoomed to create an engaging look that really grabs students attention. Prezi Presentations are also FANTASTIC for hitting many learning styles at once (especially if you include video

I have been teaching writing for the past 8 years using a version of the Step-up-to-Writing program with great success. Step-up-to-Writing uses colors to teach the parts of a paragraph/essay. With this 45 slide prezi (and accompanying 6 page handout) students are introduced to the idea of using 3 different colors to help them keep track of the parts of a paragraph/essay as well as outline their essay. About the store

Experience

I have been teaching English for over a decade in a small rural town. I have taught standard, inclusion, and advanced English classes.

Teaching style

I work hard to intergrate technology and fun into my lessons! I love to use Prezis, Wikis, and songs/movie clips in my classroom. (my kids seem to like it too!)

Awards & shining teacher moments

Technology Teacher of the Year (2011) & Teacher of the year for my division (2011)

My own education history

I was homeschooled throughout my entire early education. In fact, my first day teaching in the classroom was my first day in a public school! I hope that my background with homeschooling sometimes give me a fresh take on things when it comes to teaching.

Additional biographical information

I LOVE to read. I try to complete a book every other day (this normally works unless I am doing schoolwork!) I have two cats and two dogs...basically I am the quintessential/ sterotypical English teacher!
