My current best selling item is my bell work. I had been using the same bell work slides for 3 years and I was starting to get a little bored. On top of that I felt like I was missing some topics and wanted to bulk up other topics! This new product almost triples the slides from my other product! This product is 545 slides of Daily Bellwork for the English classroom with answer key! I have been teaching writing for the past 7 years using a version of Step-up-to-Writing with great success.
Step-up-to-Writing uses colors to teach the parts of a paragraph/essay.
With this packet students are given a page for each of the definitions for parts of a paragraph along with hints/ words lists for raising them to a new level instead of the standard sentence structure. (Who doesn't get tired of hearing "That's why Lebron James is my favorite athlete" a thousand times?)

I have been teaching writing for the past 8 years using a version of the Step-up-to-Writing program with great success.
Step-up-to-Writing uses colors to teach the parts of a paragraph/essay.
With this 45 slide prezi (and accompanying 6 page handout) students are introduced to the idea of using 3 different colors to help them keep track of the parts of a paragraph/essay as well as outline their essay.
They will write their own paragraph, learn how to stretch that paragraph into an essay, an
I have created a 57 slide PowerPoint that has students making inferences through pictures.
They are shown a picture on one slide and asked to make certain inferences about said pictures.
On the next slide the students are given possible inferences they could have made about the pictures on the previous side.

I created this Excel Workbook because I was having a hard time keeping track of specific student behavior totals. For example: how many times Johnny has not turned in his homework or failed a test.
All I have to do is enter the date of the infraction in the correct cell and it keeps track of the totals for me.
Whenever a parent comes in, or we have a student meeting, all I need to do is print the selected cells for the student and it gives me a comprehensive list of the problems this studen
This product contains 3 parts of speech color by number pages.
Student versions have a black and white grid with words related to the picture they are coloring in. They will color each part of speech a different color to reveal the picture within. An answer key for each picture is also provided.
Students can choose their own colors for each of the parts of speech to make it more artistic, or you can assign the same colors that are on the answer keys!

My kids have an issue with remembering which pronouns go with which point of view. I keep telling them that they have to practice and memorize the pronouns, but you know how teens are!
I decided to make them practice their pronouns for POV in a fun way!
This product contains 2 point of view color by pronoun pages.

My current best selling item is my bell work.
I had been using the same format of bell work for the last 5 years. The routine of bell ringer/journal question every single day was getting a little too monotonous for me. I decided that this year I wanted to try something new!

Students will learn the difference between static and dynamic characters in this PowerPoint that utilizes classic Shel Silverstein poems. Students are asked to read 5 Shel SilverStein poems (and one story summary) and determine if the main character is static or dynamic and why. I then ask students to write their own story containing a clear static and dynamic character. I have used this PowerPoint for nine years and every year my kids love it more and more.
Prezi is similar to a PowerPoint in that they are both presentation tools, but that is where their similarities end.
Prezi Presentations are created on a "canvas" rather than on "slides". This helps to encourage focusing on combining text, pictures and video clips. Items on the canvas can be dragged, tilted, and zoomed to create an engaging look that really grabs students‚ attention. Prezi Presentations are also FANTASTIC for hitting many learning styles at once (especially if you include vide

This is a pre reading prezi I created to introduce "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio before starting the book.
The prezi begins with survey that students answer and discuss to get them ready for the themes of the book
The students are then shown a video reading of a children's story about what makes someone special paired with discussion questions.
Students are then introduced to a facially deformed little pup who is making a big difference.
Finally, students will view a book trailer and read a bo
This is one of my favorite end of the year activities! Current students write letters to your future students that contains important advice about the new grade level and teacher! My students really enjoy writing this AND the incoming students love to hear about the upcoming year from another student's perspective!
This product includes a two page template letter for students to fill out. You can have your current students place the letters into a binder for all future students to read -OR- you
Cause: I could never find a quality PowerPoint that explained the step by step instructions for finding the three most commonly used points of view.
Effect: I made my own!
The kids really enjoy this PowerPoint and it truly helps them grasp the concept of POV.
Within this PowerPoint I define and give examples of:
First Person
Third Person Limited
Third Person Omniscient
I then teach students how to correctly identify which type of point of view anything is written in by finding pronouns
I created this activity to address differentiated instruction and early finishers in my classroom.
My students are required to complete a BINGO line sometime within the 6 weeks whenever they get done with their classwork or tests early.
The assignments are fun and english oriented and they really seem to enjoy it!

This product is what I generally use for a "Pre Reading" activity to Wonder by R.J. Placaio. It has key vocabulary for the entire novel and their definitions.
What I do is have my students use the book to find the context clues that would help them to understand the vocabulary words.
I have also include vocabulary bookmarks for students to use and a take home vocabulary list.
Answer key is included!

Experience
I have been teaching English for over a decade in a small rural town. I have taught standard, inclusion, and advanced English classes.
Teaching style
I work hard to intergrate technology and fun into my lessons!
I love to use Prezis, Wikis, and songs/movie clips in my classroom.
(my kids seem to like it too!)
Awards & shining teacher moments
Technology Teacher of the Year (2011) &
Teacher of the year for my division (2011)
My own education history
I was homeschooled throughout my entire early education. In fact, my first day teaching in the classroom was my first day in a public school!
I hope that my background with homeschooling sometimes give me a fresh take on things when it comes to teaching.
Additional biographical information
I LOVE to read. I try to complete a book every other day (this normally works unless I am doing schoolwork!) I have two cats and two dogs...basically I am the quintessential/ sterotypical English teacher!
