I created this Excel Workbook because I was having a hard time keeping track of specific student behavior totals. For example: how many times Johnny has not turned in his homework or failed a test.
All I have to do is enter the date of the infraction in the correct cell and it keeps track of the totals for me.
Whenever a parent comes in, or we have a student meeting, all I need to do is print the selected cells for the student and it gives me a comprehensive list of the problems this studen
This is a PowerPoint review game I created to review Symbolism.
Students act like CSI investigators and go through various categories identifying symbols in different ways from videos, to songs, to pictures, to text.
There are 7 different categories for students to choose from:

(Our agents were able to capture a few perps on video, help us decipher the videos)
----Wire Tap----
(We taped the wires of some suspects and got some interesting song recordings, pleas
My current best selling item is my bell work.
I had been using the same format of bell work for the last 5 years. The routine of bell ringer/journal question every single day was getting a little too monotonous for me. I decided that this year I wanted to try something new!

Students will learn the difference between static and dynamic characters in this PowerPoint that utilizes classic Shel Silverstein poems. Students are asked to read 5 Shel SilverStein poems (and one story summary) and determine if the main character is static or dynamic and why. I then ask students to write their own story containing a clear static and dynamic character. I have used this PowerPoint for nine years and every year my kids love it more and more.

Prezi is similar to a PowerPoint in that they are both presentation tools, but that is where their similarities end.
Prezi Presentations are created on a "canvas" rather than on "slides". This helps to encourage focusing on combining text, pictures and video clips. Items on the canvas can be dragged, tilted, and zoomed to create an engaging look that really grabs students' attention. Prezi Presentations are also FANTASTIC for hitting many learning styles at once (especially if you include video
***Note: This is a growing bundle. I am working my way through each day of the year as I go. The price will go up as I include more days. Created up to day 115 of 180! This product is my entire 8th grade English curriculum, but it could work for 7-9 as well. So many schools have gone to teaching with laptops and Chrome books that it was time to update my curriculum so it could be almost completely digital! Hurray for no more copying! This year I decide to try implementing a quote of the week.
To start, I would show a quote on my screen.
Then, , I have my students write down the quote.
Next, I ask them to interpret the quote (explain what it means).
Next, I have them give an example of the quote.
Finally, I ask them to agree or disagree with the quote.
It has been going so well I decide to make an entire year's worth instead of just 36.
This product contains 180 quotes of the day that you can have students dissect, r
I had requests to break my year long bell ringers down into their respective categories and I finally obliged the requests!
This product contains 40 brain teasers with answers.
You could use one a week as a bell ringer/exit ticket.
Or you could could print out the slides in handout mode to turn into a fun assignment!
I have included both the PowerPoint version and the PDF version!
My kids always adore brain teasers and usually by the third week start thinking strategically instead of litera
Cause: I could never find a quality PowerPoint that explained the step by step instructions for finding the three most commonly used points of view.
Effect: I made my own!
The kids really enjoy this PowerPoint and it truly helps them grasp the concept of POV.
Within this PowerPoint I define and give examples of:
First Person
Third Person Limited
Third Person Omniscient
I then teach students how to correctly identify which type of point of view anything is written in by finding pronouns

This is a 32 page Powerpoint that introduces what literary theme is, common themes found in literature, and how to find themes within literature.
First, students are introduced to what exactly theme is.
They are then introduced to common themes found in literature and asked to relate those themes to their lives.
Next, they learn what abstract nouns are.
Then they learn how to take those nouns and turn them into theme sentences.
Finally, students will determine the theme of a presented f
The last few years I used my classroom chalkboard to house my journal questions, random facts of the day, and exit slips.
See my blog post for an example: http://mskcpotter.blogspot.com/2013/01/utilizing-classroom-chalkboard.html
That has worked, but I missed being able to use my chalkboard for different purposes.
I was going to use all of the PowerPoint presentations that I had created, but then I realized I would be shuffling through 4 different PowerPoints and that it would just get chao

Experience
I have been teaching English for over a decade in a small rural town. I have taught standard, inclusion, and advanced English classes.
Teaching style
I work hard to intergrate technology and fun into my lessons!
I love to use Prezis, Wikis, and songs/movie clips in my classroom.
(my kids seem to like it too!)
Awards & shining teacher moments
Technology Teacher of the Year (2011) &
Teacher of the year for my division (2011)
My own education history
I was homeschooled throughout my entire early education. In fact, my first day teaching in the classroom was my first day in a public school!
I hope that my background with homeschooling sometimes give me a fresh take on things when it comes to teaching.
Additional biographical information
I LOVE to read. I try to complete a book every other day (this normally works unless I am doing schoolwork!) I have two cats and two dogs...basically I am the quintessential/ sterotypical English teacher!
