When planning lessons and activities, I always try to build lessons that give students the most authentic experience possible. Assessing skills has always been a tricky process, but through trial and error, I finally get to a version that I am confident in sharing with others. All my resources have been tested with my students and provide real world experiences and knowledge.

Food Additives - Nutrition -IBL
Students will use the Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) Strategy to research food additives. This IBL project outline that will allow students to be in the driver's seat of their own learning. Students can work individually or in pairs to research a particular food additive and then create a simple poster artifact to present to their class mates. Teen Parenting Budget
Supplement the Egg Baby Project, but excellent as a stand alone as well. This is a highly impactful finance project. Ideal for 8th and 9th-grade students. If you have upper-level students, check out my Baby Finances Project that is geared towards 11/12 grade students. Students work through a basic budget of finding a job (relevant to their age), find costs for baby related items and have to balance a monthly budget. It is an eye-opening assignment for many students.

This is a great eye-opening experience for students to realize and reflect on the reality of the financial burden of babies at any age.
