About the store
Over my career, I have had the pleasure of working with students in underserved, urban high schools. Many of my students spoke English as their second language, so my products utilize strategies that I have found effective in helping these amazing students grasp important concepts. I have taught Language Arts at all high school grade levels, I spent three years teaching Drama, and I spent three years incorporating mindfulness into my English classroom.

This lesson begins with a 3-slide PowerPoint which gets middle and high school students thinking about the amount of time between stimulus and response. After the presentation, the worksheet: students will begin by responding to Viktor Frankl's famous quote, thinking about where their breath goes in their body (btw, the answer to #3 is "anchor"!), and writing about how they normally respond to things that make them angry. This is followed by mindfulness practice, which is cued on the worksheet

About the store

Experience

Over my career, I have had the pleasure of working with students in underserved, urban high schools. Many of my students spoke English as their second language, so my products utilize strategies that I have found effective in helping these amazing students grasp important concepts. I have taught Language Arts at all high school grade levels, I spent three years teaching Drama, and I spent three years incorporating mindfulness into my English classroom.

Teaching style

The students I teach need plenty of scaffolding and lessons that focus on the standards without a lot of extra fluff, so you will see a lot of that in my products. Ideally, I follow the "I do it, we do it, you do it" model. I try to have fun with my lessons, but I'm still trying to figure out how to make writing an essay as entertaining as Snapchat.
