During my Professional Development with Compass PD we were learning about different reading strategies. I learned about using different symbols while reading. I decided I did not want to take up my whole wall with an anchor chart and decided to create a bookmark. This way the students would have the information and be able to use it as a bookmark while reading. My students love that they can see what symbols to use with their post it notes to make little comments as they are reading.

I used this in my classroom once my students mastered all of their math operation facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). I give them three minutes to complete the quiz. If they pass the quiz in three minutes with no mistakes then the next week I will move them onto the next quiz.
