This lesson will show students how they can change the world for the better by spreading kindness. Students will be introduced to the concept by the teacher demonstrating a how a drop of water creates a ripple when dropped into a body of water (a cup, bowl, etc). Then a video will show how acts of kindness can spread. Students will reflect, then be challenged to start their own ripple effect.

Show the epigraph before reading each part of the book, then revisit the epigraph after reading to analyze how each epigraph relates to each character in the book. I use this color coding guideline when I teach Narrative Writing. Typically, my students type their drafts in Google Docs, so it is very easy for them to highlight the specific parts.
