This is a flipchart that you can display on your Promethean Board that can completely change your life! Well, make it easier anyway. I was so tired of forgetting to re-set my clips on my lunch count/attendance, not to mention the annoyance of lost or broken clips, I decided to make it digital! Students drag their names to their lunch choice, and the leftovers show you who is absent. Once you're finished taking attendance/lunch count, just hit re-set and it's ready to go for the next day. Students will be exposed to Inquiry learning through the use of this learner centered packet. Once students choose a topic, they reflect on what they already know and what they want to know. Students then spend time going between seeking information and reflecting on new information. Finally, students sketch out a plan to share their new information with peers. *Note, I have my students explore Wonderopolis to get ideas for topics. That is usually enough to get them thinking about what they are

Narrative Writing Color Coding

I use this color coding guideline when I teach Narrative Writing. Typically, my students type their drafts in Google Docs, so it is very easy for them to highlight the specific parts. These guidelines would also work for handwritten drafts, but you would need to make sure you have the different colored highlighters available. I like to have my students color code their drafts because it provides a visual representation of strengths and weaknesses, as well as missing parts-both for the student

Individual reading conferences are SO important! During this time, my students enjoy some one on one time with me while they get to talk about their books. Little do they know, I am checking in with them to make sure they are choosing appropriate books, doing reading outside of class, and quickly assessing comprehension. My notes allow me to track areas of strength and weakness, as well as progress on those areas. These tracking sheets make this an easy, organized process! I copy one page per s
