Check in and check out form

There are those students we have in classs that need to check in when they arrive at school and check out prior to leaving school to determine how they are feeling and to take data as needed for IEPs, 504s, or behavioral issues in general. This form is designed so that a trusted teacher, case manager, or school counselor can talk to the student 1-on-1 and write down their answers to the questions listed. After asking students the questions and writing down their answers, the teacher should hav

Planned Ignoring in Progress

There are students who exhibit attention seeking behaviors in the classroom. Well intentioned classroom visitors will come by and see if you and/or the student are ok and how they can help if they hear a problem in the classroom. This sign helps to keep staff focused on ignoring behaviors and allows for classroom visitors to know everything is under control. Great resource for inclusion and special education classrooms.

Interval Data Collection

This data sheet is one I created and used to collect data for a student on my caseload who eloped (left class suddenly and without permission) frequently, didn't complete work, was aggressive, and would be non-compliant toward most directions. On the other hand, it is important to know how many times the student is compliant and how long the student is on task. There is a column for each of these categories along with a place to write down who is documenting the data. There is also a place fo

All about me caterpillar

For any teacher that would like to use "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" as their classroom theme, this product is a must! The file contains nine circles of about me questions. Nine circles are blank to write your own questions and/or print out to send home to have parents/students attach a picture. Print the circles on different shades of green paper, cut them out, and send them home to be completed by students and their parents. Makes cute decor along with a great all about me activity that he

Accommodations at a glance

This sheet is for special education teachers, inclusion teachers, specialists (OT, speech, etc), and school administration. This sheet is a lifesaver for teachers to be able to look quickly and plan for the day around students' accommodations and times out of the classroom. Accommodation sheet is a word document and is editable.

Checklist for IEP

Sometimes in the middle of writing IEPs it can get overwhelming and you may forget something. I created this checklist to help myself make sure I remembered everything for the meetings. This product is editable to the requirements of your state and district. I created mine for Norfolk Public Schools in Virginia's requirements.

Calm Down chart

When a student is having a meltdown, there are times when they can't reel themselves back in independently. Having students use their senses to take their mind off of being upset and helping them to identify things around them will help students come back down from their episode. Also a great tool to use while teaching the five senses. Students could find pictures in an old magazine or draw pictures to go in each column.

About the store

Experience

I have 6 years experience teaching. 4 years have been in Special Education both in inclusion and self contained settings. 2 years I have been teaching reading to high school students who have needed additional assistance in order to pass the state required testing to receive their high school diploma.

Teaching style

I believe in teaching by modeling. I do-we do-you do. Practice is very important. Reinforcement is also very important in teaching for me. When I teach reading strategies and students miss a question, I ask, what strategy could you have used to get to the right answer to allow the students to see that strategies are important.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have had great success with students passing state testing and succeeding with IEP goals.

My own education history

i have my Associate's Degree in Elemenetary Education. After receiving that degree, I received my Bachelor's in American Studies, which is another way of describing Social Studies past and current. I then went for my Master's Degree in Special Education.

Additional biographical information

I am a wife and mommy to 1 kindergartener. We live in Florida and are excited to read together as a family.
