This file contains a pretest and quiz (post test) for a forces and motion overview. Balanced and unbalanced forces, friction, inertia, gravity, air resistance, and acceleration are among the many concepts included.
I used this pretest and quiz with my 6th grade students in preparation for a study on Newton's Laws of Motion.
This resource would be appropriate for grades 5-12.
Engage students in informational reading, analysis, and writing through this interactive lesson.
Before reading, students complete a journal prompt to promote discussion.
During reading, CCSS aligned questions are completed, requiring students to look back at the text (close reading) and cite evidence.
After reading, students utilize a T-Chart graphic organizer and guided writing activity in order to compose a summary.

This unit contains a 10 slide PowerPoint including a link to a YouTube video for review. A worksheet where students draw an idiom and give the literal and figurative definition is also included. Finally, a quiz where students match idioms to their figurative definition as well as writing an idiom seen in the review video wraps up the unit.

This center is designed to be used following an introductory lesson based on the counting of syllables in words. At this center, students sort words into the appropriate columns, based on the number of syllables within the word. Students draw words, which are located on bottle caps, from a box. They then read the word, determine the number of syllables, and write the word under the appropriate column.
