Students will review how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals as well as how to divide fractions and find the greatest common factor and least common multiple in this MATHO game. MATHO is like Bingo, but the students will solve problems to get five in a row. The resource has directions including four different ways to play, 26 questions, a teacher answer key, 6 different versions of the playing card, and blank playing cards. Students will have fun reviewing their NS standards.
Here on the Bryar Patch, I value getting to know the students right from the start. I also place value in students learning about each other because they will be a community all year long. Learning names is only the start though. This resource is filled with many different get to know you games and activities to do with your students the first week of school. Whether you teach all subjects or just one subject, the activities are universal. Directions are included for each activity.
Some of the
An appointment clock allows you to randomly pair students instead of having them choose their partners all the time. At the beginning of the year, the students will make appointments with others. When you want students to work with a partner, you will just have them meet with their appointment from a specific time. You can have them make new appointments with people through the year so they get to work with everyone.
In this match game, students will try to find two expressions that are equivalent. Included in the resource are 8 different sets of expression cards, a blank set so students can make up their own, as well as teacher directions. The original way they are laid out on the page has the equivalent expressions next to its match, but once they are cut up and put into bags they will be mixed up. For you to have an answer key, make sure you save a copy of the full sheet for each of the sets if you want t
Here at the Bryar Patch, I know bringing real life examples and engaging activities into the classroom are important. In this resource there are a few activities that the students can do to show their mastery of operations with decimals. There are two different "Checking it Out" sheets where the students will perform addition and subtraction problems (sometimes multiplication before adding or subtracting) as they keep up with their money on the balance sheet. Next, the students have a price shee
The foundations are pivotal in math. It's vital students understand how to order numbers and read/write/verbalize numbers. This resource, designed for 1st graders, allows students to practice counting individually, with a partner, in small groups, in a center with a teacher, as well as at home. In one activity the students practice counting forward from a given number. In another one, they have to place the numbers in numerical order. There is also a resource with stations so they can also be di
The resource is an activity where students get to participate in the data collection and the data calculation as they find their average speed at different distances. The activity is one that you can set up inside or outside and includes directions, activity sheets with tables to record data, reflection questions, an extension activity, a mini-lesson/review, and exit tickets. All you need to have are stopwatches/phones, measuring tape, chalk or tape/markers, and students!
Here at the Bryar Patch, I value interaction amongst students. In this resource, there are activities where students can ask their classmates different questions. The students will practice collecting and reading data. Some of the activities can be done as a whole group, as individuals, and/or as small groups. The activities line up with the 1st grade math standards about data and can be used through the year, but can also be used in a kindergarten or 2nd grade class. Some of the pages do have a
Here at the Bryar Patch I believe it is important to start the year off allowing students to meet people. Why not start this year with a People Bingo game for your beginning of the year icebreaker activity! Many times there are new students or multiple feeder schools so get to know you games are always a fun. I love to hear students to call others by name instead of saying "him" or "her". This resource provides students with the opportunity to walk around and get to know each other a little bett
