About the Product
These teacher-facilitated notes will not only solidify students’ mastery of CCSS 5.G.1 & 5.G.2 but will do so in a fun way that makes students feel as though they are in a hybrid class of math and art. Even though it is super fun for a math lesson (along with our music videos, maybe the most fun, ever), Number Notes do not go light on rigor and depth, and will help lead students toward mastery of 5.G.1 & 5.G.2.
The visual aids and geographic models in Number Notes help students to not only grasp the procedural knowledge, but also to dig deeper, shedding light on conceptual understanding.
After the students are finished with the final designs and coloring of their doodle, notes like these make a great addition to math journals, as well as looking terrific on bulletin boards - or perhaps even in a gold leaf frame atop the fireplace.

Aligns to Common Core Standards (USA):
5.G.1 | 5.G.1.1
Use a pair of perpendicular number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the 0 on each line and a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates. Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., x-axis and x-coordinate, y-axis and y-coordinate).
5.G.2 | 5.G.1.2
Represent real world and mathematical problems by graphing points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.
