About the Product

These teacher-facilitated notes will not only solidify students’ mastery of CCSS 5.NBT.5 but will do so in a fun way that makes students feel as though they are in a hybrid class of math and art. Even though it is super fun for a math lesson (along with our music videos, maybe the most fun, ever), Number notes do not go light on rigor and depth, and will help lead students toward mastery of 5.NBT.5.

The visual aids and geographic models in Number Notes help students to not only grasp the procedural knowledge, but also to dig deeper, shedding light on conceptual understanding.

After the students are finished with the final designs and coloring of their doodle, notes like these make a great addition to math journals, as well as looking terrific on bulletin boards - or perhaps even in a gold leaf frame atop the fireplace.

My students are not used to taking notes during math class due to their young age, and this resource is very helpful guiding them how to take notes, and then having notes to use when completing math equations in the classroom and at home.

I sent this home with my students for e-learning day on November 12, 2021. I showed it to my students on the day before and they were so excited they did not want to save it for e-learning. I made them put it in their backpacks anyway. I uploaded a picture of the answer documents to Google Classroom, Class Dojo and Clever for parents to access in case there were any questions about completing the assignment. I also plan to purchase the whole 5th grade collection when I get my instructional supply funds.

This was great for my students that take a little bit longer with regular note taking. I minimized these notes and placed them in our math notebooks. Very helpful and time saving.
