Description

This is the perfect activity to introduce students to adding decimals!

This activity focuses on adding decimals up to the hundredths place and incorporates use the use of interactive base ten blocks and models.

This is a fun and interactive Google Slides activity that is ready to use! It can easily be assigned in your Google classroom by choosing the "make a copy for each student" function.

There are 10 slides with different types of practice problems.

  • 5 slides that ask students to write an equation based on a model (2 different types of models)
  • 3 slides where students have create a model to represent the equation and solve
  • 2 slides that contain a total of 4 addition problems with standard algorithm

The slides can be assigned altogether or you can pick and choose which questions to assign. These activity is perfect for a math center, homework, as a quiz, or practice during class!

Answer key is included!

This was a wonderful resource that allowed my students to build up an understanding of adding decimals from modals to full equations in a 45 minute lesson. The use of simple pictures and directions made it easy for my ELL students to not only grasp the topic, but be able to contribute to the class discussion as a whole.
