Description

This a fun interactive activity that allows students to practice plotting and identifying points in the first quadrant. An extremely fun lesson where students get complete creative control. They are ”mayor” of a neighborhood where they decide the location of different places on a coordinate plane. This would be perfect to use as a center, homework, or in class!

This activity is ready to use! It can easily be assigned in your Google classroom by choosing the "make a copy for each student" function.

I would really love any feedback! Please leave a review!

This was a perfect introduction to coordinate planes and plotting points for my students. They were so engaged and even made up stories about their maps! They LOVED it! :)

I used this as an intro activity for the school year that reviewed prior knowledge. It served the purpose of a quick review with a built in quick assessment. The students did have issues with typing on the document, but we worked it out.

Use a pair of perpendicular number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the 0 on each line and a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates. Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., 𝘹-axis and 𝘹-coordinate, 𝘺-axis and 𝘺-coordinate).
Represent real world and mathematical problems by graphing points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.
