Description
This kindergarten math game is a perfect resource for math centers and guided math groups. Your students will love comparing two numbers to decide which is greater. It's also great for Preschool or Pre-k students who are ready for this skill.
In this exciting game, called My Pirate Has More, each student must draw a card, recognize the numeral or ten frame (choose your version), and identify which number is greater. The student with the greater number gets to collect a treasure chest. The student with the most treasure chests at the end of the game wins! You may also have your students fill out recording sheets to show you their learning
**This game is so fun that my students cry if they don't get to play it!**
Two versions are included:
-numerals 10-20 – students read numerals and tell which is greater
-ten frames – students use ten frames to tell which teen number is greater
Three optional recording sheets included:
-write the numbers on the lines. In the circle, write <, >, or =.
- write the numbers. Circle the number that is greater.
-complete the sentence: __ is greater than __
How to play:
• Number Cards are placed face-down (if printed on cardstock) or in a paper bag (if printed on plain paper.)
• Each player chooses a pirate to be their Game Piece.
• Each player draws a Number Card. The student with the greater number gets to take one Treasure Chest to put with their Game Piece. In order to get the Treasure Chest, the student must say a complete sentence (“17 is greater than 13.”)
• The Number Cards are then discarded.
• If the numbers are equal, nobody gets a Treasure Chest.
• Once all Number Cards have been used, players count their Treasure Chests. The player with the most wins and gets to yell “My pirate has more!”
• Optional: Students fill out one of the recording sheets as they play.
