This unit includes:

✅SKIP COUNTING MINI LESSON

Students practice skip counting a few equations in this mini-lesson and also get practice learning the best way to skip count. They can refer back to their interactive math notebook while they are still new to using this multiplication strategy.

✅ 10 SKIP COUNTING WORKSHEETS

Students practice skip counting to solve multiplication equations, use error analysis to find a mistake a student made, do some hopscotch skip counting, and skip count on a hundreds chart to solve.

✅ 4 ERROR ANALYSIS PAGES

Students look at four different work samples and decide which pages are right and which are wrong based on what is shown. These are perfect for math talk or whole group discussions. The error analysis pages help with evaluating common third grade math mistakes.

✅ EMOJI THEMED TASK CARDS

There are 24 emoji task cards that practice with multiplication skip counting. Students write a multiplication equation to solve each equation. You could use these task cards in SCOOT, as a scavenger hunt, or during math centers. Each task card shows a different skip counting sequence for students to interpret.

✅ ANIMAL REMEDIATION GAME

Students are given 12 different animal moms. Students put the animals in order using their skip counting skills for each animal. For example, all of the penguins have a "2" or multiple of 2 on them. Students put the penguins in order from smallest to biggest to practice their skip counting by 2 skills. There are animals from 1-12.

✅GAME #1: SKIP COUNT KING

I really like to use this game in small groups and it works well for enrichment. For your students that catch on quickly, this can be a great fast finisher activity for students to play around the room. while you pull a small group at your back table.

✅GAME #2: LANA VS. BENNY

Students figure out who got more answers correct--Lana or Benny? There are 24 cards included. Lana and Benny both put an answer on each card. Tally up which student got more answers correct and see who the winner was.

✅ GAME #3: BUILD A CARNIVAL

Each player gets a background to build their carnival on. Playing cards and pieces go in the middle. Each time you get an answer correct, you earn a piece for your carnival. Chance cards are provided to spice up gameplay. You never know who’s going to win with these included! The first person to finish getting 10 items in their carnival wins!

✅ GAME #4: RACING GAME

This game is called "Line Them Up!". In the game, students race to see which team can line their cards up in the correct order first. Here are the steps to play. Mix up each set of cards well. Give a set of cards to each team. Start the race. Students find the START card first. They put this down. Once the start card is found, students find the answer to the equation. They continue to “Line Them Up” until they reach the FINISH card. The first team done wins!

✅ SKIP COUNTING POSTERS

There are 2 sets of skip counting posters included for you to display. One set is in the shape of numbers. The other set are simple print-and-go style. They include facts from 1-12.

This is common core aligned to standard 3.OA.1. It's meant for 3rd grade students but would be great enrichment for second grade or reteaching for fourth grade.

There is a color and black and white version of each game and activity included.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This aligns with 3rd Grade Common Core Standard 3.OA.1:

  • Interpret products of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 5 × 7 as the total number of objects in 5 groups of 7 objects each.

This aligns with 2nd Grade Texas TEKS:

  • TEKS 2.6A: model, create, and describe contextual multiplication situations in which equivalent sets of concrete objects are joined

This aligns with 3rd Grade Texas TEKS:

  • TEKS 3.4D: determine the total number of objects when equally-sized groups of objects are combined or arranged in arrays up to 10 by 10
  • TEKS 3.4E: represent multiplication facts by using a variety of approaches such as repeated addition, equal-sized groups, arrays, area models, equal jumps on a number line, and skip counting

This aligns with Florida BEST Standards (B.E.S.T.)

  • MA.3.NSO.2.2 Explore multiplication of two whole numbers with products from 0 to 144, and related division facts.
