These instructions are designed to accompany my song, "Square Dance," which was created to help elementary school students with memorizing multiplication facts (namely, squaring numbers). Montessori teachers will notice that the graphics are based on the colored bead bars that we use in our math curriculum, but the visuals will nicely supplement any elementary math curriculum. Think 1, Think 2 is a simple idea but one of my favorite resources for Inquiry based learning. Whether you teach in an inquiry based learning environment or not, you can make use of this resource.

For this activity, problems 1-3 provide a visual representation of fractions on a number line. Not only do students have to identify the fraction on the number line, but they also must choose the correct answer that correlates with the picture and is equal to the decimal.

This is a tool for students to explain how they got their answer to a math problem- also included is a daily problem for a few days- you can edit this because it is a word document. I use this in math journals at centers. The daily problems are a third grade level- however you can edit and change them.

Then kids choose one of the polygon cards and draw a color example of their polygon in the box. They will answer simple questions about the attributes and then use the attributes to write a who am I riddle about their assigned polygon. Once they have this sheet completed they will be able to use the chatterPix app to import their polygon and record their polygon saying their 30 second or less riddle!

It's Better to Give... Christmas Charity Shopping Activity
This is an activity designed for third, fourth, and fifth grade students who are part of a Gifted/Talented program. This activity is part of the program's goal to help students develop solutions for the problems in the world around them.

The girls were ages 6-12, so we completed the worksheet together, and did the scavenger hunt in two groups based on age.
