In this activity, students count the perimeter and area of rectilinear shapes resembling Minecraft characters! The first picture is of a Creeper and the second is a wolf. Students can design their own picture in the space provided and then count the area and perimeter. This allows students to be creative while also holding them accountable for the math behind the art.
Capture students' attention with high-interest math practice! Perfect for homework, a Do-Now, or as an extension activity
This activity allows students to practice finding the perimeter and area when the interior lines can't be seen. These types of questions are common on standardized tests where students have to estimate or imagine that the lines are there in order to count the area accurately. The second page can be printed double-sided so that students who finish early have a challenge. The challenge is to draw different variations of rectangles that all have a perimeter of 24, then to determine which one has
In this activity, students practice counting perimeter and area of shapes that use all right-angles. After finding the perimeter and area of each shape, match the number with the corresponding letter at the bottom to find the answer to the riddle! The riddle: "What do arctic hares use to keep their fur fluffy?" Answer: "Hare spray!"

Combine the math skills of perimeter and area with the creative design and fun of pixel art! Students create a scene with a tree, house, and car. The tree needs to have an area of 30 and the house an area of 70. After drawing the tree and house with the correct areas, students count the perimeter of each. Finally, they can design a car and count the perimeter and area. Great activity for practicing measurement skills while allowing for academic choice.

This is a quick activity that could easily be used as a homework assignment, a Do-Now, or an extension to a Perimeter and Area lesson for students who finish early. Students count the perimeter and area of the shape in each grid. Then the practice drawing a shape with a given perimeter or area. This allows for multiple correct answers while reinforcing the difference between perimeter and area.

This activity allows students to practice answering tricky versions of perimeter and area questions that they may face on standardized tests. The goal of this activity is for students to experience a variety of ways that tests can ask questions about perimeter and area to help them learn how to transfer learned strategies to unfamiliar situations (something that many students struggle with). Questions include finding a second rectangle with an equivalent area, determining the length of the sid
In this activity, students practice the colors in Spanish while applying pattern rules to interlocking cubes. They have to follow the pattern by coloring the blocks on the sheet. The beginning of each pattern is given and then students need to extend the pattern. Interlocking cubes can easily be used as manipulatives for students who need help.
