This activity provides great practice for the way these questions are asked on Common Core and other state tests! Some questions ask students to find the answer. This is a 5-page practice math test based on the 5th Grade Math Virginia SOL standards. This includes every standard that will be tested within the calculator section of the 5th Grade Math SOL test. In this activity, students have to create a line plot based on a data table that shows the number of severe earthquakes that occurred in the United States. After creating the line plot, they have to calculate the mode, median, mean, and range. On the second page, students interpret a line plot about the magnitudes of earthquakes that have occurred in California. In this activity, students have to create a line plot based on hardness data about 15 minerals. The directions begin with some brief information about what "hardness" means for minerals. Students use a number line to model the moves that are made for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. There are two parts to this activity.
