This is Unit 2 (Number Bonds) which includes 8 days of lessons. If you are using the Singapore Math program you know that there is a lot of prep work involved prior to teaching each lesson. I have created a smart notebook filled with all the materials you will need to teach each lesson. I used the teacher edition scripts and created all the activities so that all you have to do is have the teacher manual and this smart file and you and your students will be all set. My morning meeting is an integral part of the day. This is a time to teach routines and embed much of the curriculum. We spend time on ELA and math during this time. The children enjoy the interactive slides and by the second week of school are experts on the smart board. Each month I add new and varied slides to maintain interest and growth. My district recently adopted the Singapore Math program. It is aligned with the Common Core and very close to the Math Modules. I do find that there is a lot of prep work required before each lesson is taught. If you are like me and already have 1,000 things to do each day you really don’t have the time to make copies, cut out pictures, etc. I started to create a week’s worth of lessons on the smartboard so I have one less thing to worry about in my day. I don’t know about everyone else but the worksheets are quite dull. The slides I create allow the children to use infinite cloners and a little bit of creativity while still solving the problems. My first graders are heading into Module 2 on the NYS curriculum and unit 6 of Singapore math. They really need to know their 10 partners and teen numbers to be successful in this upcoming unit. My first graders are learning their double facts. This cute “twins talk” game will help build their fluency with double facts, split doubles and doubles plus 1. I have included 2 games in this document. The first game focuses on split doubles. Partner up the children as you play this game. The second game focuses on double facts up to 20 and doubles plus 1 up to 21. Print out and laminate so the cards will last year after year. How to Play: Mix up and pass out all cards to the children.

In this Ten-frame math game children will practice their addition & subtraction skills. They will practice counting the dots on a die, filling up their ten frame and writing numerals. They will add or subtract depending on the skill you are practicing. Children can play on their own or pair up to compare most and least. Please let me know how your students liked the game.
