1.MD.4 Interpreting Graphs
This week long power point lesson is made to introduce students to 3 different types of graphs - tally charts, pictographs and bar graphs. The students learn graphing terminology, how to create a graph and answer questions about the graphs. They are then asked to create their own questions and answers about different graphs. The final lesson is comparing the three graphs. This is a great lesson to introduce graphing and get the students ready to create their own graphs in future lessons. Th

Awards & shining teacher moments
I was asked to be part of a committee to adapt the Common Core Standards for the state of Arizona in 2010. This really helped me understand the standards and how they can be used in the classroom.
My own education history
I'm proud to say that I am a graduate of Indiana University. I also earned my Master's Degree in Reading, Writing and Literacy from a great program at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
