Students love doing this project. They will find or take an action photo and then use the online program Pixlr to make it breakout. Students should have basic knowledge of Pixlr. In this lesson students will learn about Richard Montanez, the janitor who created Flamin' Hot Cheetos. The lesson includes a video about Montanez with questions. After learning about Montanez, students will visit Frito-Lay's website, then they will design a Lay's chip bag using a step by step tutorial. This is a step by step guide to creating a space shooting game in Scratch. In this lesson students will add sprites, backdrops, sound effects and variables to create a video game. There will be win and loss conditions and the difficulty can be adjusted. Every aspect of this game can be tweaked. The blocks of code are explained. This might be my students favorite lesson. In this lesson, students take an image with a head shot and put the face on another image. I typically have my students use their own face or the principals. Students love the results. This is a great lesson to introduce layers to students using the free editing program Pixlr. Students will create a collage using Pixlr and masks. I am always impressed with the final results of this project and my students love how they turn out. This is a great lesson for teaching the importance of dimensions and pixel ratios. It's also a great use of masking! Some knowledge of using Pixlr and masks is helpful but not required. Most students should be able to follow the tutorial without guidance. This includes and update for the newest version of Pixlr!

Students will use the online photo editing program, Pixlr to colorize an image and then add props to it. They will then add the final image to a background that they create. Students who do this lesson should have some basic previous knowledge with png images, transparent backgrounds, and Pixlr. This tutorial is not overly complex and beginners should have no problems. I've had great results with this project and the students really enjoy creating these.

In this fun lesson, students will learn how to create an animated gif of a cat DJing a pizza in space. As silly as the lesson sounds, there are many skills to be learned in this lesson. Students will use masks, the lasso tool, layers, outer glows and many other skills. This is a step by step tutorial that should be beginner friendly. My students really enjoyed learning how to make this and the skills can carry over to other fun projects! This uses the most up to date free version of Pixlr.

In this step by step lesson, students will create word videos using Canva. Students will complete the tutorial then create word videos on their own. These come out fantastic looking and the students love the way they look! This uses the free version of Canva and every step is included from signing up to saving the final project.

In this lesson students will learn to create a 3 day weather forecast that can be used for a weather broadcast using green screen and a video editing program. They will use the free photo editing program, Pixlr. Included are 60 weather icons for the students to use for their broadcast. This is a great lesson for any class that wants to do daily or weekly student broadcasts. The lesson is included as a pdf and with a link to the Google Slides presentation, which is fully editable.

My students love Canva! They make videos daily using the free online software. In this lesson students will make a short Halloween video. This is a step by step guide and students should have no problem creating the project. Everything is included!

In this lesson students will learn about the Japanese art of kintsugi. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.
