In this lesson students will learn about Richard Montanez, the janitor who created Flamin' Hot Cheetos. The lesson includes a video about Montanez with questions. This is a step by step guide to creating a space shooting game in Scratch. In this lesson students will add sprites, backdrops, sound effects and variables to create a video game. There will be win and loss conditions and the difficulty can be adjusted. Every aspect of this game can be tweaked. The blocks of code are explained. This lesson teaches students how to cut out out a specific image from a background and then use that image to create a poster. This is a great lesson for teachers who want to create great looking presentations!. The students will find an athlete, musician or celebrity and remove them from the background. Then they will create a poster from that image. The students can take what they learn and then use it to make better presentations. My students love the results of this lesson and you will too!

Students will create a collage using Pixlr and masks. I am always impressed with the final results of this project and my students love how they turn out. This is a great lesson for teaching the importance of dimensions and pixel ratios. It's also a great use of masking! Some knowledge of using Pixlr and masks is helpful but not required. This is a rubric that is designed as a student performance evaluation that is modeled off of what local employers use to rate their employees. The purpose of this is for the teacher to rate, and the student to self rate their performance. The teacher then will make a recommendation based on that performance to: terminate, give raise, or give a promotion. Students who do this lesson should have some basic previous knowledge with png images, transparent backgrounds, and Pixlr. This tutorial is not overly complex and beginners should have no problems. I've had great results with this project and the students really enjoy creating these.

In this lesson students will listen to a This American Life Podcast about a Prom that took place during a tornado and then answer comprehension questions. The podcast is linked and it is 27 minutes long. My students really enjoyed this lesson especially close to prom season. Podcasts are great way to incorporate listening skills.
