I have over 13 years experience teaching high school math. I started my career teaching in Quincy, Florida for 2 years. After that I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina for 3 years. I tried it back home where I grew up in Juneau, Alaska for 2 years. After leaving Alaska, I moved back to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where I taught for 4 years and I was the department chair for the last 3 years. I taught in Clarksville, TN for 2 years and was a Level 5 teacher my final year there. I recently graduated with my Masters in Mathematics Education, K - 8, and I currently teach at Juneau Douglas High School.

Solving One Step Equations Pop Quiz
There are 4 different versions (with keys) of an eight question quiz. It can be used as a pop quiz, a pre-assessment quiz, or a review quiz. I have taken the time to make sure that all the quizzes have the exact same type of questions, but different numbers and locations on the quizzes. This quiz is also great because 4 quizzes fit on 1 sheet of paper (for those of you teachers on a paper crunch)! Distributive Property & Combining Like Terms 4 x 4 Bingo
This is Bingo game is a great way to review or practice the important skill of simplifying expressions. To start the game, have each student create their own game board using a pen or marker (if they use a pencil, they may try and move their answers to get a bingo quicker). There are a total 13 different relays, including solving by substitution, elimination, graphing, systems of inequalities, and linear programming. This is a great activity to use to practice how to do these problems that students find complicated. Students sit in rows or groups and 1 student does one step, then passes the paper to the next person. They may not talk or help each other until they show their answer to you. Basic Graphing Coordinates Pop Quiz
This is a quick quiz that would be great to give as a warm-up or pop quiz. It will allow you to assess the students quickly on their understanding of coordinate points and ordered pairs. This activity has 6 problems of shapes on coordinate planes. You can copy the worksheet onto cards and cut them up so students have the opportunity to share cards and get up to work together.
The activity requires the students to find the area and perimeter of each figure by using the distance formula and recognize the base and height of the different shapes. Distributing & Combining Like Terms Dominos
This is a great way for students to practice using the Distributive Property and simplifying. Students work out a problem (the start problem) find the correct answer, and do the problem attached to the answer. It should make a line of dominos.
Students love these types of activities and it challenges them to find the correct answer.

Operations and Compositions of Functions with KEY
This is a great worksheet to use as notes or a review of basic compositions and operations. It allows students to add and subtract functions, find compositions with evaluating numbers, and finally compositions of functions. I used it as an introduction to function operations. I had not practiced multiplying polynomials yet, so I did not include multiplication or division.

Percent, Fraction, Decimal Tables Worksheet
This worksheet contains 10 tables that will have the students converting decimals to fractions or percents, fractions to decimals or percents, and percents to decimals and fractions. It is a great way for them to practice this key topic.
On the top of the worksheet, I have even included an example for the students to determine how to complete the table. The example has directions on how to use the graphing calculator to change from a decimal to a fraction, but that can easily be changed.

Imaginary Numbers Bingo
This is a great Bingo game that can be used for reviewing simplifying complex numbers and solving quadratic equations (that are complex). Students love to play the game and it gives them an excellent opportunity to review the topic.

Solving Absolute Value Inequalities Test Recovery Worksheet
This worksheet has 16 absolute value inequality problems. It also has 2 worked out examples at the top of the worksheet for a guide to the students.
I actually use it as a way for them to raise up their test grade. For each 2 problems they get correct, I will raise their grade 1%. After each test they have the opportunity to raise their test grade by doing extra problems. This game practice basice properties used in Geometry: reflexive, symmetric, transitive, linear pair postulate, vertical angles theorem, segment addition postulate, angle addition postulate, definition of congruent segments, right angle congruence theorem, and definition of congruent angles.

Rationals Unit Test Review - Algebra 2
This is the test review I used for my students. It is broken down into 5 different sections.
1. Graphing Rationals through Transformations: They have to be able to determine the transformation compared to the parent graph, the vertical & horizontal asymptotes, the domain, the range, and graph the functions.

Solving 2 Step Equations Graphic Organizer
This graphic organizer is great to use as a review of the more difficult 2-step equations. These are the problems that I usually find students struggle with the most. I suggest copy it on a different color than white (students love this for some reason) and possibly markers or colored pencils. Segment Addition & Bisectors Test Recovery Worksheet
This worksheet has 15 problems dealing with segment addition postulate, segment bisectors, and midpoints.

Teaching style
Each school that I have taught in has been considered a "low performing" school and I have always worked with students that come in lacking prior knowledge and the motivation to be successful.
I create and use a lot of activities and games that help keep my students engaged. A co-worker of mine calls me, "The Game Queen."

I was a Level 5 teacher for the 2011-2012 in Tennessee, with some of the highest scores in Algebra 2 for the school district (which included my inclusion class)

I graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1994. I attended Florida State University and earned my Bachelors degree in December 1998 for Curriculum and Instruction: Mathematics Education (6-12).
