Graphs of functions: Domain and range graphs - review Task cards

Created by
MathNoHow
There are 36 “graphs of functions” task cards in this product. An answer sheet is provided at the end of the task cards. For each graph, students must solve: · Domain of graph. · Range of graph. · Is it a function: Yes or No? Students sometime struggle with questions about domain and range of graphs and finding if it’s a function or not, which is why I made many questions. The graphs vary from easy graphs of lines, parabolas and absolute values to far more complicated graphs. There is ample

There are 32 task cards in this worksheet, labelled 1 to 32. An answer sheet with graphs is provided at the end of the task cards, as well as a table of answers showing the points of intersection of each line and parabola on the task cards. Students must examine each task card and draw the parabola and line of each on the graph provided. They then determine (visually / graphically) where they intersect. There are two task cards per page. I recommend setting up 8 stations with four cards per st

An answer sheet is provided at the end of the task cards. Students must examine each card, which all have a binomial and a trinomial that must be multiplied. Given that there are 40 cards, the students can complete these exercises in groups of 2, giving 4, 5, 8 or even 10 cards to each group. I sometimes put th

There are 30 numbered “direct and inverse variation word problem” task cards in this worksheet. I strongly recommend laminating the printed pages before cutting them out first, so they can be used time and again. Students examine the text in each card and identify the constants from this text. When the constants are identified, they calculate the final value. This is done using the direct proportionality or inverse proportionality formula. They must determine: If the relationship is directly or

This worksheet contains 30 Scientific notation cards, each card with two tasks. The students must look at their cards and work out the solution to the tasks on their cards. The teacher picks a random student to begin the exercise. The student that begins must say “I have (answer to the first task)” , “who has (answer to the second task)”. After a few minutes, the class will complete the exercise once each student has called out their answers. If there are too many cards, some kids can have two c

How to use this: There are 40 task cards with graphs of absolute values in this worksheet. I strongly recommend laminating the printed pages before cutting them out first, so they can be used time and again. Answers are provided at the end of the task cards. 40 may seem like a lot of task cards, but students often find this topic confusing and practice makes perfect. Given that there are 40 cards, stations can be set up to allow the students to work in groups. There can be 10 stations of 4, or

There are 40 task cards in this product. I strongly recommend laminating the printed pages before cutting them out first, so they can be used time and again. In each task cards, a random point from a line and its slope. Using these two pieces of information, students must determine the equation of the line. The task cards can be given to students for individual work, or even used in 5 different work – stations with 8 cards per station. An answer sheet is provided at the end of the task cards.

There are 30 task cards in this worksheet. I suggest laminating the pages before cutting them, so they can be used again. An answer sheet is at the end of the task cards. I try to play a game with the task cards, awarding a point for certain criteria in the answers that the students get for questions they complete. The cards can be put in a box. Students must pick a card from the box, solve it, confirm with the teacher that their answer is correct and then return it. They do this for 10 cards

How to use these task cards: There are 28 task cards in this worksheet. 26 are labelled “A” to “Z”, and there are two bonus cards. Calculation sheets for all questions are included. Students must compare both exponents on the card. One or both exponents have blanks in them. They must simplify the upper exponent. Then, when completed, the total coefficients on the upper question must equal the total exponents on the lower question. These task cards can be quite challenging, but worth doing, it r

Teaching style

I like to challenge the students and create activities that make them scratch their heads and have to think about a topic or situation. I try to make each topic as applicable to everyday examples as I can. Being able to regurgitate information is one thing, but I like to see students thinking outside the box.
