A pack of 28 translations for the new GCSE. Includes English answers which could be used as the original translation to translate back to Spanish. I have not included a mark scheme per se as each exam board is slightly different so refer to your board for specifications. I am working on a higher pack as well which should be available early next year. Main topic areas are Identity and Culture, Local Area including holidays and travel, School, Future aspirations and work, International and global
See free preview of this folder of activities in my store This module looks at grammar and vocabulary using the context of the Spanish civil war. This pack includes Teaching lesson plans (or at least a guide to what the lessons might look like including possibilities for starters and plenaries) A power point for the teacher (or perhaps for individual students) - which covers: An introduction to the civil war with a link to a video giving some contextual information A translation of the overview
Students start at the X and follow the directions to a certain place and once they arrive at that place there is a number. The students write down the number of the place they arrive at.
Also on this site is a free Hotpotatoes file where students can type in their answers, ideal for linking to a VLE where results can be seen straight away.
(I admit the map is a little basic!)
Students need to read and understand the article in Spanish to be able to give a logical explanation in English to the reasons at the end of the comprehension about why he gets to school late and arrives home late. This is comprehension practice, preterite tense practice, imperfect tense practice with irregulars and reflexive verbs of daily routine. The students will love the challenge of working out why. You will have fun deluding them that there is a correct answer, the aim of the task is to
work sheet to extend on the topic of school subjects at GCSE level. Multiple choice and questions in Spanish. Could be used for lower years as well. Has been written in the style of the current syllabus for GCSE not the new 2016 one.
I have created a hot potatoes file for this as well - free to anyone who downloads this worksheet!
Students use the photos (the free file) to match up with the descriptions on this sheet.
They decide who they are what their names are, there are various correct answers but the students need to recognise the correct family members to be able to match them.
I print the photos onto A3 and then the other sheet, I either allow them to copy or cut and stick, depending on age range and ability.
Practice of people in the family and possessive adjectives.
Students need to identify the vocabulary to do with family and then think about to whom they refer:
e.g. the father of my father is my ......?
The students then need to practise possessive adjectives - my, your (singular) and his/her.
These quick translations can be used at the beginning of a lesson to support GCSE learning of the social problems topic. Fully differentiated at 3 levels to enable access by all students. I am adding to them all the time so watch this space for an update. Selling at half price whilst I finish it off.
3 graded translation tasks with answers which cover the grammar needed for the school topic, especially if using the Edexcel Spanish GCSE book. Includes all the answers and identifies in each graded piece what is covered in the translation. I use this in my flipped classroom to show proof of learning of the structures we cover in this topic.
I find the students do not do as well with these activities that require the students to identify the time frame to which the statements apply.
I made 2 here to help them practise - in the same format as the Edexcel GCSE
One on Young people living at home with parents and another on the cinema and a fictional director. Students read the articles and cross the boxes responding to whether the statements refer to the past, present or the future
(Another file also available in HTML interactive form
Use this personal description sheet for practice of Ser and Tener, plus negatives and all the vocabulary for personal description. Have this one for free, I'll work on a HTML version to upload as well!
