I presented this PPT to my students the first week of school to introduce growth mindset. Within the presentation are links to ClassDojo's Mind Growthset videos, and a video on "Famous Failures" found on youtube. Students come up with a survey question to ask their class mates, then create 4 possible choices for their peers to answer with. Students then practice making a tally table, frequency table, and a bar graph with their data. File is a Word Doc, so you have edit as needed.

Students choose two items then complete 5 stations on the physical properties of their items. Stations included and Tools Needed: 1. Measuring Mass (double-pan balance) 2. Measuring Volume (graduated cylinder) 3. Magnetism (magnets) 4. Relative Density (water and container) 5. Other Qualitative Observations (hand lenses) This document is a Word Doc so it is easily editable to fit your needs. Can be for 2nd-5th grade. You can use triple beam balances instead of [an balances for upper grades.

Students create and design their own 'town', and practice using their coordinates. Project includes, coordinate plane, a place for a 'key', and a page for student to give directions from place to place. In a Word doc so it is completely editable.

This handout can be used as students rotate through quick stations where they get to use and try different tools. Tools used/tried: goggles, thermometer, hand lens, and ruler (students get to practice metric and to measure in 'paperclips'. For the hand lens, i had students look at pennies/other coins.

Students write their names then find an adjective for each letter of their name. Great practice for adjectives! I also allowed students to use a dictionary to find adjectives if they couldn't think of any adjectives on their own.
