This chart helps students to keep track of the many characters in The Westing Game. Students fill out the chart as they read, either independently, as a class, or in small groups. I wanted to have a place where my students could share book that they really enjoyed. I know that a lot of my favorite books are ones that were recommended to me by others. This is a writing and research project that I used with my class during summer school. Students write a bucket list after viewing the powerpoint. This is an easy way to document student behavior in class. I have 6 classes a day, so I print one per week for each class. Before printing I add student names. Then I keep the sheets on a clipboard that is easily accessible during the day. As I notice behaviors that are not acceptable I make a note using the key on the chart. I created these labels to use in my classroom library. I divided my books into categories by topic and put them into baskets. Theses are the labels I use for the baskets. It makes it easier for my students to find books on topics that interest them.

I use this worksheet as part of a minilesson in my 8th grade poetry unit.
