This is a bundle of four PPT presentations. Each presentation contains at least 30-50 journal prompts that are appropriate for middle school students. There may be a couple duplicates across between the presentations, but they are mostly completely unique from each other. I teach ELA for grades 5-8 and I use them prompts every year with my students. The only duplicates are questions that I like to see their answers change from year to year, for example "Something I would like my teacher to know

The Game of Categories - No Prep Game for filling an extra 10 minutes

I created this classroom version of categories to play with my middle school ELA classes. It's a great game because once you teach the instructions, you can use it anytime you have a short amount of time to fill. One round can easily be played in 10 minutes once students have learned the game. And there is no prep involved! Just pull up the ppt and have each team get a paper and pencil. It's that simple! The game consists of 25 rounds of random categories. Each round has 5 categories. Students a

I wanted to have a place where my students could share book that they really enjoyed. I know that a lot of my favorite books are ones that were recommended to me by others. So I created a Book Recommendation Bulletin Board. I print the recommendation forms on colored paper and cut them out. Whenever students read something they love, they fill out a recommendation form and add it to the bulletin board. Just to encourage recommendations, I added that I will have a quarterly drawing and students

The log is set up with different tabs along the bottom. Each sheet serves a different purpose. My foundations for how I handle independent reading in my classroom come from reading The Book Whisperer by Donalyn Miller. I highly recommend this book. They could write a narrative, create a presentation online, or a physical presentation. Then they share that item from their bucket list, and how they could accomplish that goal.
