Create your own math word wall! ALL 1st grade HMH Into Math vocabulary words are included in this file as well as 14 additional words that may be helpful in your teaching. Many definitions have been re-phrased to be more "kid-friendly" but still maintain the meaning of the word.

These Making 10 and Making 20 mats can be used with manipulatives and dry-erase markers (if laminated), or to draw with pencil. As shown in the preview, there are two different versions of the 10 and the 20. Each one has a version that shows the blank lines with + and = sign, as well as a version with just an empty box for the student to fill in. This "Solve the Room" activity is perfect for students to review, or to use during your Addition and Subtraction units. There are 15 addition facts to 10 and 15 subtraction facts to 10. Students will need a provided recording sheet. Students will look for a card around the room labeled with a shape at the top. In place of numbered cards, I chose to use 2D and 3D shapes as a very small review of shapes as well! Students will love this activity and will get to be moving as well!
