This unit includes:
✅ REPEATED ADDITION MINI LESSON
The repeated addition mini-lesson gives students manipulatives to cut out and they can make different repeated addition equations in their interactive math notebook using the objects they've cut out. Students can refer back to their notebooks at any time to review what they've learned.
✅10 REPEATED ADDITION WORKSHEETS
Students solve multiplication equations using repeated addition, use repeated addition to figure out some rhino math equations, write repeated addition equations after looking at equal groups in multiplication strategy pictures, and fill in a chart that shows multiplication equations, how many equal groups there are, and a repeated addition sentence.
✅ 4 ERROR ANALYSIS PAGES
Students look at four different work samples and decide which pages are right and which are wrong based on what is shown. These are perfect for math talk or whole group discussions. The error analysis pages help with evaluating common third grade math mistakes.
✅ EMOJI THEMED TASK CARDS
There are 24 emoji task cards that practice with repeated addition. Students write a repeated addition equation to solve each equation. You could use these task cards in SCOOT, as a scavenger hunt, or during math centers.
✅ MATCHING ACTIVITY: COFFEE AND TECHNOLOGY
Each of the cell phone users has lost their cup of coffee. Match up each cup of coffee with the correct cell phone based on the repeated addition equations.
✅EMOJI MATH SORT
This is a sorting activity where students put a smile or a frown emoji on top of each task card. If the area is correct, a happy smile is put on top of it. If the wrong area was found, the students put a frown on top of the task card.
✅GAME #1: ANIMAL WORLD
You have never seen so many different animals before! Figure out the repeated addition equations on each card about each animal to win and make your way across the game board!
✅ GAME #2: BUILD A GROCERY CART GAME
Each player gets a background to build their grocery cart on. Playing cards and pieces go in the middle. Each time you get an answer correct, you earn a piece for your grocery cart. Chance cards are provided to spice up gameplay. You never know who’s going to win with these included! The first person to finish getting 10 items in their grocery cart wins!
✅ GAME #3: BUBBLE GUM GAME
Students match each piece of bubble gum with the correct kid. There are over 144 cards included with facts from 1-12.
✅ GAME #4: RACING GAME
This game is called "Line Them Up!". In the game, students race to see which team can line their cards up in the correct order first. Here are the steps to play. Mix up each set of cards well. Give a set of cards to each team. Start the race. Students find the START card first. They put this down. Once the start card is found, students find the answer to the equation. They continue to “Line Them Up” until they reach the FINISH card. The first team done wins!
This is common core aligned to standard 3.OA.1. It's meant for 3rd grade students but would be great enrichment for second grade or reteaching for fourth grade. There is a color and black and white version of each game and activity included.
