Acknowledge the success of your students as they work through the Rocket Math Program. I use astro-bright paper and run off two copies. I give one to the student to take home and another to hang up in the hallway. It's a GREAT celebration point and a motivation for the other students in the classroom!

This document is very helpful in helping identifying where students are working within the concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I am head of the RTI committee at my school and we use this document to help create progress monitoring goals for students who are working below grade level. The checklist is printed out for the individual student and followed closely until the student is working at grade level. This checklist is also helpful in our cross-grade level collabor
When students need to fix math problems, this sheet can easily be stapled to math homework sheets or quizzes and tests. Math target is included at the top of the sheet. Students will be able to critique their own work right on this form!

Math Reminders are given to students in class to "remind" them of the expectations I have set for them each and every day. If a student does not follow the classroom rules, they are given a Math Reminder. I do this in my class instead of automatically giving students a detention or sending them to the principal's office. The student has the choice to either complete the math reminder or not. If not, they are given a morning detention. I like this behavior intervention because it gives stu

This classroom behavior management plan incorporates rewarding good behavior with developing real world experience. Students are responsible for tracking both appropriate and inappropriate behaviors and depositing and deducting "Moolahs" accordingly. Students have a check register in which they describe the deposits and debits and then use math skills to find their current balances. This document also includes a letter to students describing the program in kid friendly terms and lists some su
This 8 by 11 poster include the key word "difference" in the directions. The poster can be printed on card stock and laminated. I use it in my classroom as part of my daily math wall practice. I write a new problem on the grid daily. It allows me to reinforce place value, aligning columns in addition and to gradually introduce regrouping on a daily basis.
It's difficult to teach students higher level math when they don't know their basic facts. How can you hold kids accountable and motivate them to practice their math facts? Make it more visual by having them graph their success! We use this graph after students take their weekly 2 minute timed test on math facts. Everyone gets the same test (use any type with 100 problems). We correct using the overhead/projector. Students use this graph (kept in their binder or pasted into unused pages of their

I had trouble getting my 3rd graders to do their flash cards at home with their parents. So I created this log and made it an assignment for a grade. This has helped so much in how quickly they have learned their facts, because they are actually doing it now.
