This unit plan includes lesson descriptions and materials for 10 lessons (based on 1 hour periods). Squiggle writing is a huge hit in my class! The students love to turn that squiggle into something and create a story for it. It is easy and it can be a great way to pull in even the most reluctant of writers! So what do they do? This activity structures a students retelling of a story. Students have to share about the setting, characters, the problem, and the events of the story in sequence. This can be used for a group book study or individually to help students develop their comprehension and recall of story events. Two versions of this activity are included.
