This product was created to help students write one-step equations from word problems that are based on a single math operation (either addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division). For each problem, the problem is stated and it asks for an equation to be written and solved. A graphic organizer is given that provides space for the first number, the operation, the second number and a variable to represent the unknown (the answer). This product has a graphic organizer for adding mixed numbers with unlike denominators and for subtracting mixed numbers with unlike denominators. The method DOES NOT USE BORROWING. The organizer allows the student to write numbers in the graphic organizer and has two organizers per sheet. This product is designed for the students to complete a problem of renaming fractions so that they may be added together. The organizer should be used at least once with the students to show them how it may be used. I intentionally left off a lot of explanation on the organizer because I wanted to make the organizer simple and not "busy" . This method uses the least common denominator of the two fractions. There are spaces wherever numbers are to be written.
