If you teach third grade math, this is jam-packed full of what you need to teach place value and cover the Common Core standards! This set was designed so you would have a complete unit. The presentation is so easy to follow that a substitute could even teach new content if you were unexpectedly absent!

Also, this is a great way to help enrich your high-flying 2nd graders, or help reinforce concepts for 4th graders. The presentation could be self-guided when needed!

There are four main topics for this Place Value unit! (See notes below)

*Number Forms (standard, word, and expanded form)

* - I have also included materials in case you want to teach up to the hundred thousands. 2nd graders learn up to the thousands, 4th graders learn up to the millions, so it's up to you. The CC gurus don't mind either way...I checked with them!

**- Also please note that as far as straight 3rd grade standards go for Place Value, it really only includes learning that each place to the left is 10x the place to the right (setting us up for algorithms for addition/subtraction) and rounding. I have covered number forms, comparing, and ordering as well using the 2nd grade standards. This will be a great beginning unit because it takes what they learned in 2nd grade and adds in the rounding (and possibly more places if you choose!)

♦ Planning guide to help you easily write lessons, matches up the presentation slides, assessments, vocabulary used, interactive notebook entries, and games/activities for each mini unit to help you quickly make plans.

♦A full in-depth presentation on all topics in place value, this includes class practice questions and answers at the end of each section

♦3 Assessments PER topic. Each topic has a regular practice assessment, an "Application" assessment (word problems, using tables), and a "Test Prep" with multiple choice (all w/ keys!)

♦A complete unit study guide (w/ key) in the "style" of Common Core assessment

♦A complete unit test (w/key) in the "style" of Common Core assessment

♦An alternative version of the unit test and unit study guide if you choose to include up to the hundred thousands, an alternative version of place value "Roll 'Em," and also an alternative interactive notebook entry if you want to go to the hundred thousands. These all replace the regular versions as described in the product!

♦Everything you need for a math interactive notebook including a notes/practice page and a foldable for each topic. I have included a key and picture so you can see how I set up my notebook! There will be room for you to add any notes you want your students to include.

♦Vocabulary cards for your room covering: place value, place, digit, period, compare, order, greater than, less than, equals sign, standard form, word form, expanded form, rounding

♦A place value chart mini-posters with wholes numbers to the thousands, and a version that goes to the hundred thousands if you choose.

♦Paper 6-sided and 10-sided dice if needed, as well as 1-6 and 1-10 cards to use for games.

♦Very detailed notes for you from me on how to use the set! This includes a "Unit Guide" correlating all of the mini-unit/topics in a chart for ease of use and planning!

***Please note that while these are in color, they print beautifully in black and white! I know many of us do not have color printers at school, so I wanted to make sure these worked both ways!
