Project Based Learning: Let's Go Camping PBL, Print & Distance Learning
This project integrates elements of research, animals, science, design, and plan a camping trip. Students will decide where to camp, what to bring, plan a meal, work from a budget, decided upon appropriate supplies, and research plants and animals along the way.
At the end of this PBL students take a nature walk, observe their surroundings, identify plants and animals, along with creating a 3D version of a campsite.

There are 28 activities (most are 1 page each) for students to complete. Each page involves an issue or topic they must solve, design, create, or research.
p10 Camp Brainstorm
Students brainstorm what they know about camping.
p12 Camp vocabulary
Students define camping-based vocabulary terms.
p13 Where To Camp
Students decide where they would like to go camping.
p14 Final Destination
Students make their final decision on where to camp.
p15 Camping Supplies
Students pick items they’ll need from a list of 45 supplies.
p16 Pack Your Bags
Students pick 8 specific items and tell why they need them.
p17 Shopping List
Students will pick food for their trip using a budget.
p18 Food For Thought
Students design a menu for an entire day.
p19 Campsite Essentials
Students pick items they’d like to have at their site.
p20 The Campsite
Students will draw a picture of their campsite.
p21 Ghost Stories
Students create and write their own ghost story.
p22 Ropes Course
Students will design a ropes course which is located where they are camping.
p23 Campstagram
Students share their experience via social media.
p24 S’more Instructions
Students write step-by-step instructions for creating the perfect s’mores.
p25 camp schedule
Students design the activities for a day.
p26 Home Vs. Camp site
Students compare and contrast their home and a campsite.
p27 Bears. Big, Big Bears
Students write a story about their encounters with a bear.
p28 Native Species
Students write and draw native species that they could find at their camp site.
p29-32 Animal info
Students dig deeper and research specific animals in their area.
p33 A Specific Set of Skills
Students decide which skills they would need to complete certain tasks like rock climbing and white water rafting.
p35-41 NATURE WALK
Students will take a nature walk around their school and complete activities based on information they find. The final tasks is collecting materials on the Nature Walk to create a 3D campsite (that they created earlier).

Students gather information: weather, season, location.
p37 Checklist, Plants & Animals
Students use this tracking list for identifying animals and plants.
p38 Map Route
Students map their route they took for their nature walk.
p39 Leaf Collection
Students identify and draw four different types of leaves.
p40 A Bug’s Life
Students find and watch a bug, and then take notes on why they learned.
p41 Create a Campsite
Students collect materials from nature to create a 3D campsite.
p42-50 NATURE WALK Projectibles
These pages can be projected and include pictures for the Nature Walk, along with images to guide the Create A Campsite feature.
As students work through each page, they will make their own decisions and choose the outcomes based on information they learn. By the end, all students will have completed the project, but each version will be based on the creator’s imagination, creativity, and knowledge base.
All pages can be geared towards multiple grade levels, although for some younger students the teacher may need to give more explicit instructions.
Students may choose to use multiple resources to complete each page. They might even choose to work with a partner, but you get final say on that.

ACCESSING THIS DIGITAL RESOURCE
What you need to get started:
1. Download Link for the Google Slide Product
2. Have access to the Internet and a Google Account. (FREE)
3. Open the file on your own Google Drive and engage while in the edit mode.
4. Printer access to print out the finished product. (OPTIONAL).
Beginning your Google Slides Project:
Before you begin editing/filling in your project, it is VERY important to first make a copy of the file, on your own Google Drive.
Once you make a copy of the original file it will enable you to edit it and make any changes.
After creating a copy of the resource you can decide which slides you would like to include and which ones to delete before you assign this as an assignment.
