Help students understand the true meaning of solving an equation as represented by a graph model. Students will investigate to develop the concept that solving an equation is the same as finding the point of intersection when both sides of the equation are graphed. Questions are scaffolded to build the concept from the solution of linear systems to the solution of a quadratic and linear system. Included in this activity is: ♦2 basic linear equations to investigate ♦2 challenging linear equa

Angle of Elevation and Angle of Rotation In these two playdough mats, students use playdough to practice their Angle of Rotation and Angle of Elevation skills. Because the use of playdough is “big and bold”, the teacher can easily and formatively assess student understanding. The Angle of Rotation mat has students start with color coding the initial side and terminal side of an angle. It then moves students through creating both positive and negative angles of rotation, as well as angles a

Students usually catch on to factoring trinomials when the a = 1, but they have a harder time when the a does not equal 1. This factoring mat will help students organize their ideas for pairs of factors. Since factoring trinomials is often a trial and error process, it can be frustrating for students. Therefore, this mat is intended to be used as dry erase marker activity. The printed sheets can be placed in sheet protectors, or you can use more durable protectors such as these. It is als
