These dot cards are a great resource to use when subitizing. Subitizing is the ability to quickly identify the total amount in a group without counting one-to-one. Students will eventually learn to quickly see groups within the total amount to help them figure out the total amount. I use these as a math warm-up before whole group instruction. Ten frame dot cards are a great resource to use when subitizing. Subitizing is the ability to quickly identify the total amount in a group without counting one-to-one. Using dots in ten frames when working on subitizing is powerful because students will soon know that the total amount cannot exceed ten.
